FOSTERING
The goal of our Papillon Haven Rescue Foster Program is to rehabilitate as many Papillons as possible in order to prepare them for a forever adoption. Because of our dedicated Foster Parents, we are able to help many Papillons who also need extra care or special attention. What is a Foster Parent? A Foster Parent provides a temporary home for the Pap where learning new skills, healing and socialization can take place. A safe and calm environment where they can start to trust humans again. Fostering a rescued Papillon will require a significant commitment, with unlimited rewards! How Long Can I be a Foster Parent? Fostering can last anywhere form a few days to a few months, depending on the needs of the Pap. We always have a need for Foster Parents/Homes in all states. What Cost Will I Be Responsible For As A Foster Parent? Papillon Haven Rescue provides you with all medications and reimbursement for approved veterinary visits. Foster Parents are asked to help by providing basic transportation to and from the vet visits, food and housing. How Can I Become A Foster Parent? Complete the Foster Parent Application and return back to us. Upon receipt, the Foster Team will be in touch to help guide you through the Application Process. A Home Visit will be required, and the process can take up to a week or two. After you have been accepted to foster, you will receive communications from the Foster Team Leader and/or the In-Take and Placement Team about current Papillons in need of foster homes. Other Requirements You must be at least 21 years old. You must be able to separate the foster Paps form your own pets if needed, as many foster Paps have limited immunity and are scared or skittish. All rescue Paps must have a safe, fenced area while outside. A Foster Parent must also be able to follow PapHaven’s guidelines.
